School Board service is what you make of it. In addition to preparing for and attending board meetings, there are a variety of opportunities to participate as a trustee out in the community and to support students in multiple ways. Here is a glimpse of some of the roles I’ve taken on as a trustee in the past few years.

Sunnyvale School District Roles and Committees

Service as a Board Member means sharing the load of the work, whether as an officer or as a member of the board.  I have had the privilege of serving as an officer, but take my role as a member equally seriously. I have participated on every committee that the Board relies upon to move the work forward and learn with the district community, often concurrently.

Santa Clara County School Boards Association (SCCSBA) Service

The Santa Clara County School Boards Association (SCCSBA) is an organization that provides informative programming, professional development, networking opportunities, and legislative advocacy for all 31 districts in Santa Clara County, as well as for the County Office of Education and MetroEd. I have grown enormously as a result of participating in their work, and have joined every committee and advocacy opportunity that they offer.
